Charles D. Parr, Sr.

Funeral Director

Charles received his funeral service degree from John Tyler Community College and was licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1981. He later went on to become licensed in North Carolina. Charles is married to Kimberlee Woo Parr and lives in Suffolk. Charles and Kim have three children, Douglas, Bracey, and Margaret.

Sarae Sibilia Joyner

Funeral Director

Sarae began working for Mr. Parr in June of 1998 while attending Windsor High School. She attended Old Dominion University and later transferred to John Tyler Community College to receive her funeral service degree. Sarae passed her National and State boards and was licensed by the State of Virginia in 2003. In 2005 she married Michael Joyner. In 2008, 2011, and 2016 they were blessed with three daughters, Ava Lane Joyner, Eila Grace Joyner, and Eden Leigh Joyner. They are members of First Baptist Church in Suffolk.

C. Douglas Parr Jr.

Funeral Director

Douglas was born and raised in Suffolk, VA and is a 2010 graduate of Nansemond Suffolk Academy. He went on to pursue his certificate in Funeral Service from Tidewater Community College. Douglas is a member of Suffolk Christian Church. He loves history, art, politics, and real estate.

Susan M. Chaney

Office Manager

Susan M. Chaney is a lifelong resident of Suffolk, VA. She is married to Benjamin Chaney and has two children Morgan Chaney and Ben Chaney, Jr. She is the proud grandmother to two sweet grandbabies who she enjoys visiting as much as possible in South Hill. In her spare time she enjoys going to the Outer Banks.

Bill Bradshaw

Funeral Assistant / Part time

Bill was raised in Suffolk, VA and graduated from Suffolk High School. He is married to Terry, and they have two adult children, Elizabeth and Jon. He is also the proud grandfather of three, Parker, Peyton, and Madison. Bill retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in 2013 after 35 years. He joined the Parr team in 2019. Since their retirement, Bill and Terry have been fortunate enough to travel around the country. But they will tell you what's more enjoyable is the blessing of spending time with their family.

MaryLou Bradshaw

Funeral Assistant

MaryLou began working for the funeral home in 2006. She is an active member of Suffolk Christian Church and sings in the choir. She retired in 2017 after a long career in nursing. In her free time she enjoys traveling.

Daniel Frohman

Funeral Assistant

Dan graduated from Wabash College in 1963. He taught at a private academy before beginning a flying career in Erie, PA. He was a company pilot and continued as an executive company pilot until recently retiring in 2020. In 2014 he joined Parr Funeral Home as a funeral assistant. Dan is married to Pam Frohman and has 4 children.

Funeral Assistant / Part-Time

Mary is a long-time resident of Suffolk, VA. She has 2 children and 1 great grandchild. Mary is a member of Liberty Springs Christian Church and her favorite past times are sewing, being with family and friends, working in the yard, and going on day trips.

William Goodwin

Funeral Assistant / Part time

William, a lifelong resident of Suffolk, Virginia, joined the Parr Funeral Home & Crematory team in 2022 after retiring from Norfolk Naval Shipary with 43 years of civil service. He and his wife have two children and one grandchild. William is a member of Wilroy Baptist Church, where he's served as a Deacon and chairman or member of a variety of committees. William's pastimes include camping, attending NASCAR races, and quality time with his family, notably his granddaughter.

Mason Howell

Funeral Assistant

Mason was born and raised in Suffolk, VA and graduated from Forest Glen High School. He is married to Kay and has two adult children, Nicholas and Kately. He is also the proud grandfather of Harley Mason Howell. Mason retired from Lipton Tea Company after 36 good years, then joined the Parr team in the spring of 2017. In his spare time he enjoys learning about God's word and serving Him! He also enjoys attending concerts, sporting events, and hanging out with his family and friends at the beach.

David is a lifelong resident of Suffolk, VA. He is married to Lela and has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. David retired from the railroad and several years later joined the Parr Funeral Home team. He enjoys spending time with his family and serving the Lord.

Jesse Mizelle

Funeral Assistant / Part Time

Jesse was born in 1936 and went to school at Colerain High School in Colerain, NC. After graduation he went on to work for Lipton Tea Company for 40 years. He is married to Frances Leicester Mizelle and had 2 sons; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

Emery Nichols

In Loving Memory

Emery began working for Parr Funeral Home in 2002 after a long career in Civil Service. He is married to Sue and has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He is a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church where he has actively served on numerous committees. He is also a longtime member of the Liberty Spring Ruritan Club. Emery passed away September 3, 2022. We are thankful for his numerous years of faithful service.

Organist / Part Time

Sue has played the organ for Parr Funeral Home for numerous years. She is a former music teacher for Suffolk Public Schools. Sue is married to Emery and has 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. She is a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church where she actively serves on numerous committees.

Jerry Putman

Funeral Assistant / Part - Time

Jerry retired as the owner of Suffolk Pest Control in 2000. In 2008 he began working at the funeral home. He recently at the age of 86 got married and they currently attend Bethlehem Christian Church. In his free time he enjoys traveling the United States.

Tim Rawls

Funeral Assistant

Tim joined Parr Funeral Home in December of 2006. He is married to Darlene, they have two children, Jacob and Meaghan. He is a pastor currently serving Wilroy Baptist Church as interim pastor. Also Tim is currently employed at WSP group. He enjoys sports, spending time with family, and serving the Lord.

Betty Sue Plewes

In Loving Memory

Betty Sue joined the Parr Funeral Home staff in 2009 after a long career in food service management. She is married to Ben Plewes and is an active member of Rivers United Church. For numerous years she has been involved in prison ministry. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and serving her community. Betty Sue passed away February 20, 2022. We are thankful for her many years of faithful service.

J. Frank Taylor

Frank joined the staff of Parr Funeral Home in 2012 after retiring from a 54 year career in banking. He resides in Corapeake, NC with his wife of 59 years. He is the proud father of one daughter, 2 grandsons, and 2 great grandsons. His hobbies are spoiling his grandsons and gardening.

Patti Winslow

Funeral Assistant / Part Time

Patti began working at Parr Funeral Home in 2015 after retiring from the medical field after almost 30 years. She has been married for 44 years and has 2 sons and 3 grandsons. Patti loves the Outer Banks and surf fishing.
