Willie Sanford Daniel, 81, of Smithfield, VA passed away June 9, 2010. He was born in Roanoke Rapids, NC the son of the late Lucy Turner Daniel and Sanford Powell Daniel. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Airlift in WWII. He later went on to own and operate Tri-County Dodge in Suffolk, VA. Willie was a member of the Portsmouth Scottish Rite, Khedive Shriners, and Seabord Masonic Lodge #56 in Portsmouth AF&AM.
Willie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rosetta Daniel; sons, William "Sam" Sanford Daniel, Jr. of Smithfield, Joseph Christopher Daniel and wife, Patricia A. Daniel of Suffolk, John Gregory Daniel of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Mackenzie Elizabeth Daniel and William Chandler Daniel; cousin, Monroe W. Turner of Pulaski, VA; special friends, Alice and Keith Covey of Pulaski, VA.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Mark Taylor officiating. Friends may join the family Sunday afternoon for a time of visitation from 4-5 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434. Masonic Rites will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
