William "Stan" Stanfield Johnson, Sr., 93, passed away January 31, 2018.  He was born in Milwaukee, NC the son of the late Fred Lewis Johnson and Hattie Irvin Stanfield Johnson.  He was a United States Army veteran having served during WWII.   Stan began his career as a school teacher for the Windsor School District and then worked for World Book Encyclopedia as a branch manager.  He later went on to own and operate Nags Head Wholesale Company and a gift shop in Nags Head, NC.  Stan was a longtime member of the Kill Devil Hills Rotary International where he served for numerous years with perfect attendance and received the Outstanding Achievement Award. He was predeceased by his companion, Betty Alphin.

Stan is survived by his daughter, Cynthia A. Johnson; son and daughter-in-law, William S. Johnson, Jr. (Debbie); grandchildren, Jamie Leigh Johnson, Robert Johnson (Allison), Chris Moyer (Naomi), Colin Moyer (Alicia), Katie Moyer, and Craig Moyer; great grandchildren, Isabel Johnson, Lydia Moyer, and Peter Moyer; and former wife, Martha Parker Umphlette.

A funeral service with military honors will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Gary Newsome officiating. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at a later date at Albert G.
