William “Sonny” Jonah Edwards, Jr., 92, passed away August 6, 2026. He was born in Suffolk, Virginia the son of the late William Jonah Edwards, Sr. and Chloe Clements Edwards. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Ann Byrd Edwards and sisters, Edith Norfleet, Carolyn Rountree, Ionne Yetman, and Alma Poole. Sonny retired as a machinist for Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of Cross Pointe Church.

Sonny is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William "Bill" J. Edwards, III and Mary Ann Edwards; grandchildren, Alex Christopher Edwards, Rhiannon Chloe Edwards, William J. Edwards IV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Cross Pointe Church with Pastor David Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Church Cemetery in Windsor, VA. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Wednesday night from 7-8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Memorial donations may be made to Cross Pointe Church.
