Obituary

William Thomas Roberts,60, of Suffolk, Virginia passed away September 7, 2006. He was a native of Nansemond County and was a certified welder formerly employed by Portsmouth Machine Shop. He was a member of the Jolliff United Methodist Church. In his earlier years William and his wife provided a home for foster children. They were also active and honored in the Neighborhood Watch organization at the Crownpoint Townhomes in Norfolk.

William was the son of the late Hattie Odell Morris Roberts and Thomas Hardin Roberts. He was also predeceased by his wife Patricia Edwards Roberts and his brother, Randall H. Roberts.

He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Edmundson Faucett of Suffolk, VA and Pamela Sue Williams of Chesterfield, VA; sons, William Aubrey Roberts of Virginia Beach, VA. and Lewis R. Truitt and his wife Teresa of Suffolk, VA; step-son, Kevin W. Truitt of Virginia; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Truitt, Ashley Brinkley, Brianne Truitt, Karis Cornett, Madison Truitt, Brian Truitt and Ashley Truitt; sisters, Lillie R. Carpenter and her husband James A. Carpenter, Sr. of Suffolk, VA and Peggy Ann Castelow and her husband Bennie G. Castelow of Gates Co., NC; nieces, nephews, and their spouses, Donna and Emmett Bresko, Deborah and Jeffery Byrd, James and Christy Carpenter, Christopher and Stephanie Carpenter, and Jennifer and J. L. Edwards; great nieces and great nephews, Amanda V. Bresko, Melissa L. Bresko, Dana N. Byrd (Nicole), Chelsea L. Byrd, Nikki A. Byrd (Amber), Cheyanne V. Carpenter, David J. Carpenter, Caleb A. Carpenter, Brooklyn M. Carpenter, Zachary S. Carpenter, Lacey M. Edwards, and Hally R. Edwards.

Friends may join the family Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Lillie R. Carpenter. A funeral service will be held Monday, September 11, 2006, at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Rev. Tony Peaks and Mr. Ashley Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Western Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
