William Lee Leggett, 82, passed away November 25, 2014. He was born in Bertie County, NC the son of the late Harvey J. and Gladys W. Leggett. He was a veteran having served in the United States Army. He retired after 42 years of service from the Golden Peanut Company as the procurement manager. He enjoyed being a member of the Hardee's Coffee Club.
William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean G. Leggett; daughters, Karen L. Newton and husband, Mike, Kathy L. Weber and husband, Gregg, Kelly L. Bowers and predeceased husband, Chuck; grandchildren, Coran L. Newton (Dana), Clint S. Newton (Jennifer), Megan W. Duke (Cory), Chad Bowers, and Caroline E. Bowers; great grandchildren, Taylor J. Newton, Summer B. Newton, and Addison G. Duke; sisters, Anne L. Holland, Edna L. Smith (Gene), Mae L. Faison (Warren), Lucille L. Gibson (Neal), and Jean L. Trollinger (Billy); brother-in-law, Mickey Gray; sisters-in-law, Joy Gray and Faith Thatcher. He was predeceased by his brother, Steve Leggett and family, Vernie Gray, Jr.
A funeral service will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Ted Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.
