William Horace Holland, 93, of Suffolk, VA passed away on July 25, 2008. A native of Nansemond County, VA, he was the son of the late Hugh Kelly Holland and Ada Carter Holland. Horace was also predeceased by his first wife, Sarah B. Holland; two sons, W. Jerry and Jack L. Holland; two sisters and three brothers. He was a veteran of the United States Army; retired after 34 years of service as a Machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard; then went on to serve 4 years as Custodian of Forest Glen High School. Horace was a member of Wilroy Baptist Church and also attended Somerton Friends Meeting.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Marie D. Scott Holland; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Holland, both of Suffolk; granddaughters, Lisa of NC and Terry, of Suffolk; a sister, Margaret H. Smith of Raleigh, NC; two stepsons and wives, Raiford E. and Rhonda Baker and Randy C. and Patsy Tew, all of Suffolk; and a brother-in-law and wife, Walter E. and Diane Daniel of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be held at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, on Tuesday, July 29, at 2:00 p.m. with Timothy Rawls and Pastor Amanda B. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday evening, from 7 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
