William Gwaltney, 75, of Carrsville, VA passed away on July 4, 2010. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he was the son of the late James Stanley Gwaltney and Anna Mary Austin Gwaltney and predeceased by his son, Eugene Gwaltney. In March of this year, his wife of 50 years, Hazel Brough Gwaltney, passed away. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer Builder in the U. S. Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Edward Rawls; his grandchildren, Chrystal Rose and husband Russell and Cleo Dickinson and husband, Justin all of Suffolk.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with Rev. Mark Burns officiating. Burial will be at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. for visitation.
