William Ernest Edwards, Sr., 73, passed away May 16, 2022.  He was born in Suffolk, VA the son of the late Robert Edmond Edwards and Mary Helen Askew Edwards.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Paula Jean Edwards.  Ernie retired after 38 years as a Battalion Chief for the City of Suffolk Fire Department.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Melanie Lou Scott Edwards; extended family, Murray Winslow (Missy), Annie and Kelly Olson and family, Austin, Hannah, and Jacob; Kallie and Matt Yates and family, Bryson and Grady; Allie and Jeffery Jernigan and family, Reese, Brelyn, and Kaylynn; Keri and Billy Doverspike and family, Araya, Brooke, Josh Jr., Kaitlynn, and Carter; Dorothy Dawson and Linda Faye Smith.
