William Rae
Duck
October 27, 1943 – May 13, 2025
William Rae Duck, 81, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, after several years of battling Parkinson's disease. Born on October 27, 1943, Rae was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rae was preceded in death by his parents, William "Charlie" Leland Duck and Inez Worrell Bellflower. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bertha Bennett Duck; as well as his brother, Leland Felton Duck (Berdie), and his two children, Ginger D. Howell (Greg), and William "Tony" Duck (Katryn). Rae was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Katelyn Duck, Linda Howell, Tommy Bond, and Matt Bond each of whom brought him great joy.
A lifelong farmer, Rae's passion for the land was rooted in his family heritage. Coming from generations of farming families, he could most often be found working outdoors from sunrise to sunset, dedicated to the work he loved. In addition to his life on the farm, Rae was a charter member and served as a deacon at Maranatha Baptist Church for many decades, offering support to his church family and community.
The family will receive friends for a visitation at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at 6 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 7 p.m. officiated by Rev. Robert "Bobby" Cofield and Rev. Tim Rawls. A private burial will be held the following day at Woodland United Methodist Church Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Jason Duck, Lenard Duck, Stephen Duck, David Council, Lynn Redd, and Gary Redd.
Flowers are welcome, but if you prefer to make a donation in his memory the family suggests donations to Maranatha Baptist Church in Rae's memory.
