William Thomas
"Bud" James Jr.
January 26, 1931 – September 15, 2021
William Thomas "Bud" James Jr, 90, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Ruth Huber and William T. James Sr. He is also predeceased by his wife, Jean S. James. He graduated from Granby High School in 1949 and joined the US Marine Corps in 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict. He was an adjunct faculty member of Norfolk Div. of William & Mary for 14 years. In 1972, he started the practical land surveying and math program at ODU night school, where he helped many surveyors prepare for the license land surveyor exam. He retired from the Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority as a licensed land surveyor after 31 years. He was a Master Mason and Past Master of Capeville Lodge #107 on the Eastern Shore, where he lived for 24 years in Eastville, VA. He was also a Shriner, a 32nd Degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason, Portsmouth Valley, and past member of the Royal Arch.
Bud is survived by his daughters, Susan J. Huff (Brad) and Ellen M. James; son, Robert T. "Bob" James (Kim); grandchildren, Nicholas Huff (Gillian), Rebecca Huff, Whitney Coppola (Matt), and John James (Shiela); and great grandchildren, Ella, William, and Madelyn Huff.
Bud's funeral service with Masonic rites will be 2:00 pm, Monday, September 20, 2021 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 3-5:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Scottish Rite, Portsmouth Valley, PO Box 7276, Portsmouth, VA 23707.
