William Herbert Brinkley, 88, of Suffolk, VA passed away on March 7, 2012. A native of Portsmouth, VA he was the son of the late Harry Lewis Brinkley, Sr. and Lillian Thackston Brinkley. He was also predeceased by his wives Korein A. Brinkley, Marguerite T. Brinkley, and Audrey S. Brinkley; brother, Harry L. Brinkley; and stepmother and her husband, Myrtie and Bruce Gardner. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II. William retired after 47 years as a Brick Layer. He was employed by Snow Jr. and King for 30 years as Foreman. He was a life time member and held office in the VFW and NRA; member of the Floyd Byrd Hunt Club; member of the Bricklayer's Union No. 2 of Virginia; and a volunteer at Virginia Living Museums with over two thousand hours of service.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: William J. Brinkley of Delaware and Walter D. and Vicky Brinkley of Urbanna, VA; daughter, Peggy Heidler; five grandsons; four great grandchildren; two sisters, Natalie B. Culpepper and Betty B. Harris; brothers, Willis "Sonny", Wesley "Shorty", Floyd N., James "Heartbeat" , Jessie L., Earl D., and John L. Brinkley.
A graveside service will take place on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Allen Lancaster officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA, 23434.
