William Crowder Barnes, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends on December 4, 2017.  He was born in Gates County, NC the son of the late William Crowder Barnes, Sr. and Nellie Robert Baker Barnes.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Barbara Nelms and Aubrey Barnes.  William served in the United States National Guard for 6 years.  He later went on to work and retire as an Inspector for Timber Products Inspection.  He attended Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia J. Barnes; son and daughter-in-law, Michael S. and Monica Barnes; and grandchildren, Darian Holmes (Tanner), Ashleigh Barnes, Patricia Barnes, and Michael Barnes, Jr.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Joseph Poe officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service on Thursday from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
