William Louis "Bill" Banks Jr., 80, passed away on February 8, 2017. He was born in Patterson, NJ, March 25, 1936 to the late Martha Roughgarden Banks and William Banks Sr. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict as a Captain in a research lab in San Antonio, TX and later became a professor at MCV/VCU of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. He was an avid supporter of the American Cancer Society and volunteered many hours. One of his greatest accomplishments was serving as the co-director of the Massey Cancer Center at the Medical College of Virginia with Dr. Walter Lawrence.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sharon Hazelton Banks; daughter, Heather Michelle Banks; grandchildren, Michael Dylan and MiKayla Marie Rapp; and numerous friends and family.
