Wesley "Shorty" Jethro Brinkley, 77, passed away March 8, 2018. He was born in Suffolk, VA the son of the late Harry Lewis Brinkley and Myrtie Byrd Brinkley Gardner. He was predeceased by his first wife, Stella Hughes Brinkley; and brothers, Harry L. Brinkley, Jr. and W.H. "Bill" Brinkley. Shorty retired after owning Shorty's Antiques and Produce for over 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Byrd Hunt Club.

Shorty is survived by his wife, Doris P. Tarkington-Brinkley; 8 step daughters, 3 step sons; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Joe Harris (Joseph); brothers and sisters-in-law, Willis B. "Sonny" Brinkley (Betty June), Floyd N. Brinkley (Louise), James R. "Heartbeat" Brinkley (Gloria), Jessie L. Brinkley (Catherine), Earl D. Brinkley, John Brinkley (Cindy); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Gary Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Lion's Eye Bank or Grace Hospice.
