Obituary

Wesley Hahn Hunt was born on September 23, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away on October 19, 2025 in Suffolk, VA.  He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Carol Frick; 2 granddaughters, Stephanie Ann Ewers, Heather Lynn Maynard; 2 grandsons, Sean Michael Frick and Aaron Wesley Frick.  He has seven great grandchildren.

Wesley lived a long and productive life.  With his parents' permission he joined the Navy at the age of 16.  He served on the USS Melvin DD680 as an electrician's mate first class.  He served from 1942-1946.  During that time, he saw action in Peleliu and the Surigao Strait.  The Melvin was credited for sinking the battleship Fuso during WWII in the Pacific Ocean.

After the war he met and married his wife of 72 years, Lois Verlyn Carroll "Cis".  He made the choice to work for C & P Telephone, now known as AT&T, Verizon.  He had a long and successful career starting as a lineman and ending as middle management.  He retired after 42 years of service.  During these years they raised two children, Cheryl Ann Hunt and Elizabeth Carol Hunt.

Wes and Lois both had a deep love for God and desired to impact the lives of their family and young people for Jesus.  This they did through church activities, relationships made through Child Evangelism Fellowship and having Good News Clubs in their home and other locations.  Wesley impacted the lives of a multitude of people as evidenced by bags of cards and letters received from many people throughout the years.

In later life Wes and Lois moved to Lake Prince Woods and he enjoyed making wooden jewelry boxes.  He sold some, giving the proceeds back to the wood shop, mostly he gave them away.  He also enjoyed his Men's Bible Class at First Baptist Church Suffolk and the friendships that he made there.

He will be sorely missed, but his family rejoices in the knowledge that he has been re-united with his wife and he's spending an eternity with Jesus!
