Wayne Jacob Ulmer, Sr., 67, passed away April 14, 2012. He was born in Burke, South Dakota the son of the late Hildegarde Adella Ulmer and Albert Henry Ulmer. He was a veteran having retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Corpsman. Wayne later went on to retire from the Cardiac Cath Lab at Hampton General Hospital. He was a member of Community of Christ where he served as a Congregational Pastor and President of the Mission Center.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Diane Ulmer; sons, Wayne J. Ulmer, Jr. and wife, Carrie, William A. Ulmer, Rick Labahn and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Lindsey, Charlee, Maribeth, Cameron, and Dylan Ulmer, Mackenzie Ulmer-Meekins, Jaylan Ulmer, Jessie, Derek, and Abby Labahn; great grandchild, Dominick Ulmer; sisters, Darlene Bachman, Luella Vaughan, Norma Perryman; and brothers, Ray, Harold, Ralph, and Larry Ulmer.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Pastor Bill Pennington officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation prior to the service on Thursday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Estelita and Danny Buie at 2429 Cherry Blossom Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434.
