Walter Harvey "Pop Pop" Umphlett, Sr., 90, of Gates County, NC, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013. He was the son of the late Dewey Buck and Cherry Harrell Umphlett. Walter retired as a superintendent at Tidewater Construction Co. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge No. 141.

Walter is survived by his four sons, W. Harvey Umphlett, Jr. and wife, Dianne of Branchville, VA, J. Wayne Umphlett and wife, Gen of Carrsville, VA, Michael Umphlett and wife, Myra of Moyock, NC, and C. Dale Umphlett and Miriam of Purcellville, VA; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Essie R. Twine; brother, Lonnie W. Umphlett; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr. Suffolk, VA, 23434, with Rev. Roger Crump officiating. A time of visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mooseheart, 155 South International Drive, Mooseheart, Illinois 60539-1100.
