Walter Harrell
Freeman
September 4, 1930 – March 19, 2025
Walter Harrell Freeman, 94, passed away March 19, 2025. He was born in Wakefield, VA the son of the late Walter Harrell Freeman and Sallie Faison Freeman. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Joyner Freeman; and sister, Charlotte F. Bowden. Walter was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War where he received three Battle Stars for his combat service. He later went on to work and then retired as an insurance adjuster for Equifax. He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church.
Walter is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mary K. Freeman-Stauffer (Darren); son and daughter-in-law, Walter "Doug" D. Freeman (Amber); grandchildren, Megan F. Butler (Tyler), and Joshua D. Freeman; brother, Robert Ashley Freeman; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Joyner, and Jean Goodrich; brother-in-law- Bobby L. Crumpler (Patricia); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, April 14, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Brandon Nichols officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 3 - 4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or your favorite charity. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com. Special thanks to staff at East Pavilion for their loving care of dad.
