Virginia S. Wright, 84, of Mill Swamp Rd. passed away December 10, 2006. She was a native of South Boston, VA and the daughter of the late Hester Clay Hatcher and Brownie Slate. She was also predeceased by her husband, Robert W. Wright, Sr. and sister, Margaret Parham. Virginia originally retired as an operator for Contel Telephone Co. and then went on to work for 14 years as the Chief Dispatcher for the Town of Smithfield. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. In 1942 Virginia won the title of Miss Isle of Wight County. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and leaves behind many friends in the Hardees Coffee Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly W. Cochran of Matthews, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. Wright, Jr. and Linda O. Wright of Smithfield, VA; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Friends may join the family Monday night from 7-8:30 in the Family Activity Center at Trinity United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Memorial Park with Rev. Tommy Reynolds, Rev. Will Montgomery, and Rev. Gary Kumm officiating.
