Obituary

Virgilia "Tillie" Mae Pierce, 80, of Suffolk, VA passed away December 5, 2010. She was born in Southampton County, VA the daughter of the late Eliza Turner Rountree and Charles Norfleet Rountree. She was predeceased by her husband, Claudies Ray Pierce. Tillie retired as a switchboard operator from Obici Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Christian Church where she served in the church choir for numerous years.

Tillie is survived by her daughter, Debra Pierce Dunlow and husband, James of Suffolk; sons, Douglas Ray Pierce of Edenton, NC, Ralph Wade Pierce and wife, Jean of Suffolk; grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Dunn (Robert), Kimberly Smith, Angela Stalls (Jerry), Alan Pierce (Mellissa), Heather Shank (Jimmy), Brandy Butler (Michael), and Stacey Pierce; great grandchildren, Michael, Debra Nicole, Gracie Ann, Angela Marie, Ashley, Zachary, Joshua, Carson, Kayden, Holden, Cameron, Brody, Kallie, Jamie, Charlie and Evelyn Renee; sisters, Annie Lee Morris, Sallie Pierce, and Elizabeth Vitella and husband, Bill; brothers, Charles Rountree, and Edward Rountree; numerous nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 12 noon at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA with Rev. Byron McCreary and Rev. Dolan Talbert officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Tuesday night from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at Tillie's residence.
