Violet Elizabeth McGuriman Blythe, 92, of Smithfield, VA, died at home on Thursday, June 3, 2010 after a brief illness. A native of Isle of Wight County, VA she was the daughter of the late James Madison McGuriman and Tina Bantum McGuriman. She was also predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Melvin Leroy Blythe. Mrs. Blythe was co-owner of Blythe Farm Equipment and worked faithfully beside her husband in their business until their retirement in 1979.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Angela B. and Jim Wilson; grandchildren, Joe H. Murphy, III and Dwayne L. Murphy; and great grandson, David Allen Murphy.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Acree officiating.
