Obituary

Vera Jeffery Plumley, 95, of Suffolk, VA and formerly of Leonardsville, NY passed away on September 22, 2011. Vera was born on August 22, 1916, daughter of the late John L. Jeffery and Rena Bennett Jeffery. She grew up in and attended public school in Binghamton, NY, graduating from Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing and attending Syracuse University. In 1942 she married Lloyd B. Plumley. She was a school nurse teacher at Madison Central School until retiring in 1985. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk, Va., and Leonardsville Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling overseas and visiting family and friends throughout the U.S. She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd B. Plumley in 1970, her brothers Paul and Richard Jeffery and her granddaughter, Julianne Newton.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Penelope Plumley of Thornburg, VA; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Mannix of Canastota, NY and Phyllis and Richard Newton of West Winfield, NY; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Lake Prince Woods at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Woodie Rea officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Prospect, New York. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Prince Woods Benevolent Fund, 100 Anna Goode Way, Suffolk, VA 23434 or to a favorite charity.
