Vann Campbell McKaughan, 75, of Suffolk passed away on September 21, 2009. A native of Maggie Valley, NC he was the son of the late Judson Vann McKaughan and Irene Campbell McKaughan. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Korea. Vann was a Doctor of Veterinary Science and a Pathologist for U.S.D.A. and a graduate of the University of Georgia Veterinary School. He was a member of Holy Neck Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Phyllis Weaver McKaughan of Suffolk; daughters and sons-in-law, Ginny and Wayne McCoy of Virginia Beach and Kelly P. and Tim Harcum of Franklin, VA; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas W. and Dawn Powers of Severn, NC; three grandchildren, Emily Asbell (Chris), Matthew Harcum and C. J. Harcum; two great grandchildren, Ashton and Drew Asbell; and brother David A. McKaughan, of Salem, Oregon.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, with Rev. Brent Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Neck Cemetery. Friends may join the family other times at the residence.
