Obituary

Tomoko Little, 88, passed away at home on January 26, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on March 8, 1937 in Tokyo, Japan.

Coco, as she was known by everyone who loved her, came to the United States in February 1955 after joining the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus as a performer and web aerialist. The season opened on March 30th in Madison Square Garden. This was the longest season in history with over 140 performances across the United States and Canada. In July 1956 the circus gave their final performance under the Big Top.

Coco worked part-time while raising her family. In the 1980's she began working full-time as a cosmetics Beauty Advisor. This developed into a decades long passion, during which time she developed many lifelong friendships. Even in her late 70's and early 80's she wasn't content to fully retire and continued working part-time.

Coco had many interests in life. She was naturally gifted and self taught in knitting, crocheting, embroidery, sewing, sketching, painting and cooking. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle fan and never missed watching her favorite program, Jeopardy.  She loved to travel and was able to take many trips, visiting Alaska, Spain, Hawaii, Morocco, Las Vegas, and Florida, as well as attending NASCAR races in Texas and Richmond. As her travels decreased in her later years, she derived much joy in watching the hummingbirds feed at her bedroom window with her beloved dog, Sophie, always by her side.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Sue Oliver and her husband Dess; Lory Lagoyda and her husband Loren; Joey Overman and her husband Mark; sisters Chieko Dakanuma and Hiroko Ozawa; and grandchildren: Brittany Vermillion, Delaney Little, Sarah Overman, Nick Overman, Huong (Mya) Rogers, Helen Figueras and Bryan Pham.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 at Parr Funeral Home, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. Coco will be interred at a later date at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery, joining her husband, Dick, who predeceased her. Condolences may be registered online at parrfuneralhome.com.
