Obituary

Tommy Ray McCausley, a remarkable man whose life was defined by hard work, devotion, and love, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, in Gates County, North Carolina. Born on May 20, 1944, in Cumberland County, North Carolina, Tommy lived a vibrant life of 82 years, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire many for generations to come.

As the owner and operator of Appliance Service Center in Suffolk, Virginia, Tommy's dedication and expertise in his craft were unparalleled. He had an innate ability to fix anything, a gift he shared generously with friends, family, and the community. His commitment to excellence and his warm, approachable nature made him a beloved figure both at work and beyond.

Tommy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was mowing his lawn, tending to his garden, or enjoying the tranquility of the Outer Banks beaches, his appreciation for nature was evident. A passionate NASCAR fan, Tommy especially admired Richard Petty, and he took great delight in collecting coins and watching the antics of birds and squirrels.

His heart, however, truly belonged to his family. Tommy cherished every moment spent with his children, Teresa McCausley (Miriah), Tony McCausley (Jennifer), Teri Carr Tillett (Mark), and Morris Carr (Melissa), and reveled in the joys brought by his eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His life was enriched by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who felt like family.

A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Tommy's enduring faith was a guiding light in his life. He drew strength from his beliefs and shared it with those around him, offering support and wisdom whenever needed.

Preceded in death by his loving parents, Tommie Ray McCausley and Pauline Raynor McCausley; his devoted wife of 46 years, Peggy Jean Courtney McCausley; and siblings, Leroy McCausley, David Wayne McCausley Sr., and Betty Jean McCausley, Tommy is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

Services to honor Tommy's life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dr. Thurman Hayes, will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by interment at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects during the visitation, starting one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Tommy Ray McCausley touched many lives with his kindness, integrity, and unwavering spirit. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.
