Obituary

Terry Douglas Peterfeso, 74, passed away January 8, 2022.  He was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Joseph Andrew Peterfeso and Pearl Marie Anderson Peterfeso.  Terry was a United States Army veteran, serving in Germany and Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service.

The family moved from Michigan to Virginia in 1977 and settled in Suffolk, where Terry worked in the trucking industry. His community activities included Civitan, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He and Leslie also transported dogs and cats for Symbiotic, a local non-profit animal rescue and adoption organization.

Terry was known for his quick humor, willingness to chaffeur anyone to anywhere, and a knack for fixing as many problems as he caused. Over the years he and Leslie have enjoyed a rustic lakefront homesite along with many furred and feathered family pets.

Terry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leslie Karin Pocklington Peterfeso; daughter, Georgia H. Devers; son, Joseph R. Peterfeso; beloved granddaughter, Willa; sister, Phyllis LaDuke; brother, Joseph K. Peterfeso; twin brother, Larry Peterfeso; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A chapel service with military honors will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America at donations.scouting.org or Symbiotic Animal Rescue Organization, Inc. at symbioticinc.org.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com .
