T. Douglas Casey "Doug" went to be with the Lord on July 13, 2015. He was born on November 25, 1935 and was "born again" on June 27, 1976. He was predeceased by his parents, Theodore and Cleo Casey; a brother, Tommy Casey; and brother-in-law, Charlie Goodman.
Doug was employed as a comptroller with Planters Peanuts for 25 years, five in Fort Smith, Ar. and the remainder in Suffolk, VA. He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and as a member of the choir. He loved the Lord and was a willing servant. He was Chairman of the Hampton Roads Chamber Suffolk Division in 1994 and was Chairman of the Suffolk Peanut Festival in 1998. He remained active with the festival until his death. His quick wit and optimistic outlook endeared him to everyone. Dougie, you will be so missed, but those who know Jesus as their Savior will see you again!
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Casey; a daughter, Jodie Rose and husband, Steven; two sons, Terry Casey and wife, Ronna, and Mark Casey. He has six grandchildren, Sarah Casey Bass, Emily Rebecca Bass, Tera Casey, Torey Casey, Jennifer Casey, and David Casey; step grandchildren, Triston and Celina Rose. He also has two great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters, Joan Stamper and husband, Bob, and Sandy Goodman; brother-in-law, Jimmy Stokely and wife, Wendy; sisters-in-law, Sandra Nixon and husband, Ernest, Kay Douglas and husband, David; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, July 16 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jim George officiating. Burial will be at Holly Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1637 Holland Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434.
