Sylvia Clarketta Shackelford Gallagher, 82, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away November 18, 2017. She was born in Loyall, KY, the daughter of the late Theona M. Stewart Hummel and Larue Shackelford. She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles L. Shackelford and William Shackelford. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Stephen, Martyr Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Endicott Elks Women's Club.

Sylvia is the widow of the late William Joseph Gallagher Sr; daughter and son in law, Colleen M. and David W. Duncan of Chesapeake, VA; sons and daughters in law, William J. and Brenda Gallagher of Milton, FL, James C. Gallagher of Rochester, NY, Michael F. and Sheryl Ann Gallagher of Plano, TX; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and sister, Freddie Lynn Gallagher of Ocala, FL.

A Mass of Resurrection will be 11a, Saturday, November 25, 2017 in St. Stephen, Martyr Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Rafferty officiating. Entombment will follow in Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family before the service from 10-11a in the church for a time of visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
