Sydney Irvin Griffin, 82, of Suffolk, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 21, 2025. He was born on April 17, 1943 in Buckhorn VA, to the late J. Causey and Charlotte Winborne Griffin.He is predeceased by his sister, Barbara "Bobbie" G. Boyd; brothers, James "Jimmy" Griffin and Joseph Donald (Joe) Griffin; and great granddaughter, Denver Rayne Pascucci. Sydney was a 1961 graduate of Holland High School. He went on to work and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 31 years of service as a General Foreman of Shop #56. He was also a founding member of Buckhorn Hunt Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 62 years, Velna Glover Griffin; daughters, Wanda Pascucci (Joe) and Sharon Gregory (Ricky); son, Brian Griffin, and his favorite daughter in-law, Kelly Griffin; his grandchildren, who will miss their Papa dearly, Jason Pascucci, Jeremy Pascucci (Ashelyn), Cameron Gregory, Darbi Gregory, Ethan Griffin, and Carly Griffin; great grandchildren, Maverick and Remington Pascucci; brothers in law, E.T. Pope Jr. (Ginger) and Butch Glover; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Home for their exceptional kindness and care given to Sydney during his stay there. A special thanks to RN Missouri, for her compassion and comforting support during Sydney's  final days. The family would also like to thank his two special caregivers, Valerie and Vernita.

Sydney's funeral will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Scott Baker officiating. Burial will follow at the Winborne Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm, Friday, December 26, 2025 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of choice in honor of Sydney.
