Susan Ellen (Wray) Sommers, 70, passed away June 22, 2025 after a prolonged illness.  Born in Worcester, she grew up in the small town of Grafton, MA and was the daughter of the late Carlyle and Leona Wray. While at Grafton High School, she met a boy named David and the rest as they say, is history. Following a first date at the junior prom, they became inseparable for the next 53 years.

Susan (or Sue as most called her) had a special kind of magic with small children and was a gifted educator, working as a preschool teacher for over 25 years and eventually working her way up to school director. She was well known for hosting incredible parties, had a legendary sense of style, and showered her warmth on every single person she encountered.  She was passionate and courageous in her efforts stand up for others, especially children, which she did often. But what she loved most was sharing a laugh, a hug, and a cup of tea with those she loved.

She leaves behind  her beloved husband of 49 years, David Sommers; their son Timothy Sommers and his wife Melanie Sommers of Kennebunk, ME, and daughter Theresa Sommers-Hoseini and her husband Zaniar Hoseini of Shrewsbury, MA; their grandchildren Abbigale Sommers (16), Adalyn Sommers (15), and Aaron Hoseini (3); her sister Elizabeth Clark and her husband David Clark of Auburn, MA; five nieces and three nephews; her sister – and brother-in laws; numerous cousins; and cherished friends she thought of as family.

Services will be held at the Our Lady of Hope Parish at Saint Mary Church at 17 Waterville St in North Grafton, MA on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made in her memory to Save the Children (savethechildren.org).
