Obituary

Stuart Ray Doughtie, 72, beloved Husband, Father, and Pharmacist passed away November 1, 2024.  He was born in Gates County, NC the son of the late Wallace and Ruth Doughtie.  He was predeceased by his brother, Wallace R. Doughtie, Jr.  Stuart was a Pharmacist at Farm Fresh for ten years and at Sentara Obici Hospital for twenty-seven years. He contributed to the development and opening of Sentara Obici's Sentara To Home Outpatient Pharmacy and served as Pharmacist there with his dedicated pharmacy technicians Yvette, Adrianna, and Tina and volunteers Becky and Bonnie.  Obici is where he served as a proctor and mentor over the years helping students to gain experience by working in the hospital.   He was a member of the Virginia Pharmacy Association.

Stuart loved being a Pharmacist and helping people in the community, often paying for and delivering prescriptions to those with the greatest needs.  He loved his co-workers like family and they loved him.  In his free time, he spent his days being a very active "girl dad" attending and helping backstage at every recital, dance, or academic event.  He also loved spending time saltwater fishing with his fishing buddies.

Stuart is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ann Butcher Doughtie; daughter, Taylor Raye Doughtie; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra D. Edwards (Frankie); brother and sister-in-law, Mike R. Doughtie (Sarah); two sons (Stuart Ray and Curtis), daughter-in-law (Stephanie), and three grandchildren (Raylen, Eleanor, and Weldon); and several nieces and nephews.
