Stanley Arthur Holmes, Jr., 74, of Suffolk, VA passed away July 8, 2009. He was born in Ohio the son of the late Myrtle H. and Stanley A. Holmes, Sr. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Stanley did ship repair and was self employed. He was a member of Western Branch Community Church.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce J. Holmes; children, Loretta Holmes, Diane King, Archie and Darlene Holmes, Steve Holmes, Patty and Lofton Braswell, Joyce Hoadly, Lynn and Jerry Williams; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, 14 brothers; numerous nieces and nephews.


A celebration of life service will be held Monday, July 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Western Branch Community Church with Rev. Steve Hassell officiating. A graveside service with military honors will be held later in the afternoon at 1 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA and other times at the residence.
