Stanley L. Byrd, III, 49, of Suffolk, VA passed away on December 21, 2013. A native of Nansemond County, VA he is the son of Stanley L. Byrd, Jr. and the late Ima Virginia Williams Byrd. Stanley was a veteran of the United States Army and he worked in construction as an independent contractor. He was also a member of the Suffolk Church of Christ.

Besides his father, he is survived by his daughters: Cara Byrd and Heather Danielle Smith; six grandchildren and a sister, Christine Santsaver, all of Suffolk, VA.

A funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Suffolk Church of Christ, officiated by Rev. Bob Knox. Burial with military honors will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 3 – 4 p.m. for visitation.
