Shelby J. Day, 79, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020 at home with her loving family at her side. Affectionately known as "GrannyMa",  She was born in Everetts, NC and was the daughter of  the late Charlie B. and Neva Gray Stalls. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Day was also predeceased by her sister, Shirley Rasmussen Strickland.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. Mrs. Day retired from Chesapeake Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant in the Special Education Dept. Shelby was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church for more than 64 years, a member of the Hope Bible Class, Baptist Women, WMU, and the Adult Choir.

Survivors include her husband of 57  yrs., Robert C. "Bobby" Day; 3 sons, Jayson "Jay" C. Day (Angela), Sean S. Day (Kim), and Joseph L. "Joey" Day (Vicky), all of Chesapeake, VA; 5 grandchildren; Robbie, Lauren, Stephen (Tiffany), Adam, and Jordan; and a great grandchild, Zoey.

The Celebration of her Life will be Saturday, May 23, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at her church, Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, 1000 Crowell Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23324, by her pastor, Pastor Shannon Terhune and Rev. Paul Menard.  She will be available for viewing prior to the service on Saturday from 12-12:45 pm at the church.  The family will receive friends following her "Life Celebration" Service. Memorial donations may be made to Raleigh Heights Baptist Church. Interment will be private in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr.,Suffolk, VA 23434 is serving the family.
