Sandra Leigh Brinkley, a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 21, 2026, in Suffolk, Virginia, at the age of 81.
Sandra was born on March 1, 1945, in Nansemond County, Virginia, to Lewis and Mabel Ward Brinkley. She grew up surrounded by a loving family and shared many joyous moments with her sisters, Shirley Earley, Jean Eure Wester, and Betty Jo Spessard, as well as her late sisters, Barbara Dixon, Joan Faulkner, and Rita Eure, and her late brothers, Buddy and Tommy Brinkley.
As a dedicated homemaker and mother, Sandra devoted her life to nurturing her family. Her steadfast love and unwavering support were a source of strength and comfort to her husband of 63 years, Jordan Lynn Brinkley, and their two sons, Christopher Scott Brinkley (Jaime), and Marcus Chorey Brinkley (Angel). Sandra's legacy of love continues through her cherished grandchildren: Jackson, Sydney, Morgan, Cheyenne, Isabella, and Cassandra Brinkley, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Sandra is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A devout Christian, Sandra taught Sunday School for many years and touched many people’s lives through her love for Jesus Christ. Sandra was a pillar of her community and deeply cared about everyone, creating “God’s Pantry” to give free food to those who needed it in the community. Everyone who knew her, knew she was dependable when help was needed.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery, where Pastor Burt Pearce will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many with her kindness and grace. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the 700 Club in memory of Sandra, honoring her spirit of compassion and generosity.
Sandra Leigh Brinkley's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her, but her memory will forever remain a beacon of love and warmth in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
