Ruth Henderson Raymond, 93, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 10, 2009. She was born in Perry, FL the daughter of the late Olin J. Henderson and Ethel Mixon Henderson. She was also predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Captain John M. Raymond, Jr.; sister, Margaret Henderson Buchanan; and brothers, Laughton Henderson and Richard Henderson. Ruth was a graduate of the Riverside Hospital Registered Nursing Program in Jacksonville, FL. She was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, FL and was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Toni R. and Jeff Gardy of Suffolk, VA; son and daughter-in-law, John M. Raymond, III and Marsha; grandchildren, Beth Gardy Steineman (Greg), David Gardy (fiance` Heather Lyons), Michael Raymond (Kara), Katherine Hull, Meredith Koehler, Seth Koehler (Jackie); great grandchildren, Grace and Sara Steineman, Elizabeth and Colton Hull; sister, Janie Harlock; brothers Herbert Henderson, and Hiram Henderson; friend and caregiver, Sallie Person.

Friends may join the family Saturday, March 14, 2009 from 5-6 p.m. for a time of visitation at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Dr., Suffolk, VA 23434. Inurnment for Captain and Mrs. Raymond will take place at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
