Bradshaw Russell

Ruby Leigh Bradshaw Russell (83), peacefully passed away December 24, 2025, following a courageous battle with dementia. She was born in Nansemond Co., VA, the daughter of the late William Harold Bradshaw, Sr. and Lettie Mae Daughtrey. She is also predeceased by her husbands, George Raye Russell, Wade Dorman Cavin, Sr. and loving companion & best friend Robert (Boogie) Flint; her brothers Russell Thomas Bradshaw and William Harold Bradshaw Jr.; her infant daughters Lettie Darlene and Janice Leigh Beinge; and her son Wade Dorman Cavin, Jr.
Ruby leaves behind cherished memories with her family: She is survived by her half-sister, Becky (Bradshaw) Hayes; her daughters Jeanette Robertson (Brian) and Cheryl Rae Blair Abrigo (Ray), her son George William "G.W." Russell (Daphne); grandchildren Michael Robertson (Brittany), Nikki Harris (Ryan), Katie Murray (Charles), Joseph Blair (Sarah), Philip Blair, Brayden and Tyler Russell; eleven great grandchildren: Michael Jr, Sadie, and Paytin (Robertson); Alana, Zane, Odin, Ronan, and Banner (Harris); Walter and Davis Blair; and Chelsea Murray.
Ruby was a graduate of Chuckatuck High School, Class of 1960, where she enjoyed playing baseball. She also played on adult teams with her brothers at Peanut Park. She dedicated more than 30 years as a talented florist, working at Suffolk Floral Gardens and Pinner's Florist, creating beautiful arrangements that brightened countless occasions.
Ruby attended Calvary Baptist Church (the kitchen was named after her), was a former member of Suffolk Women of the Moose Lodge 141, and enjoyed horseshoe competitions, winning many first-place trophies. Known for her feisty spirit, quick wit, and generous heart, Ruby will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A time of visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026 from 7 - 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Great Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Matt Parron officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Great Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Her laughter, love, and strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
