Royce "Roy"
G. Copeland, Jr.
November 25, 1954 – February 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, Roy Copeland, who departed this life on February 10, 2026 at home in Windsor, Virginia. Roy touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roy was born on November 25, 1954, and was a beloved sibling to his sister, Mary Sue Rawls (Johnny) and his brother, Mitchell Copeland (Gina), and of the three siblings he was the social butterfly. Roy never knew a stranger and enjoyed spending time with friends old and new, especially those at James River Community Church where he attended with family. He was well loved by all who knew him and was a good teacher for those who had the honor of being around him.
Until Roy's recent illness, he lived his entire life on the family farm except for the years he resided at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind and the Wilson Workforce Rehabilitation Center. After his training, he worked for the late Judy and Leo Moret at the former Windsor Inn restaurant. He loved farm life, and was active in feeding animals, splitting and stacking wood, vegetable garden work, and keeping the grass cut.
Roy loved Christmas and passed on his love of the season by joyfully purchasing gifts for his huge extended family, especially the children.
In addition to his siblings, Roy is survived by his nieces and nephews and their children, and his adoptive and loved Carter/Robinson family, especially his "girl," Shelby. He is predeceased by his parents, Royce G. Copeland, Sr, and Susie Mumford Copeland. His legacy will live on through the countless memories shared and the lasting impact he has made.
Burial will be private. The family will gather soon to share memories of Roy. If you have a special memory, please share it on the Parr Funeral Home website so we can share it with the family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to:
Camp Easterseals Virginia
900 Camp Easter Seals Rd
New Castle, VA 24127
The family would like to thank the team at Amedysis Hospice Care Chesapeake for their awesome care during Roy's last days.
Roy will be dearly missed, but his memory will remain forever in our hearts.
