Roy Rogers Jernigan, 71, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on August 28, 2013. He was born in Nansemond County the son of the late William Herbert Jernigan and Olif Odell Harrell Gay. He was predeceased by his sister, Mamie Arrowood. He retired as a foreman from Ferguson Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge #141.

Roy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlotte Marie Jernigan; daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Richardson, Debbie and Roger Smith, Carol and John Cooke; step children, Vicky Askew and husband, Freddy, Brad Winborne and wife, Tami, and Wayne Winborne; grandchildren, Amber Richardson, Adam Carter, Sarah Smith, Katie and Andrew Cooke; 7 step grandchildren; great grandchild, Jaycee Smith; 6 step great grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, William "Monk" and Carolyn Jernigan and Gerald and Ann Jernigan; sister-in-law, Faye Babb; brother-in-law, Buddy McClenny and wife, Wanda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Larry Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.
