Obituary

Rossie Lee Robertson "Robbie", 81, of Windsor, VA passed away February 5, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Rossie Lee Robertson, Sr. and Bessie Hines Robertson; brother, Curtis Robertson (Lucille); and sister, Katherine Drake (Doc). He is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Joanne Taylor-Robertson, sons, Dale Robertson (Lisa), and Glen Robertson; daughter, Kathy Moore (H.B.); grandchildren, Nathan and Mallory Moore; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his step-children, Lee Burton and Keith Burton (Shawn), and Cynthia Watts (Brandon); nine step grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren.

Robbie was employed by Thom McAn Shoes, then proudly served in law enforcement in Chicago, IL and later in the Nansemond-Suffolk area. He was an insurance agent for AIG and enjoyed a successful career as a car salesman, most recently at Duke Automotive.

He served as a Deacon of his beloved church, Colosse Baptist Church, for several years, and was President of the Senior Adult Class there. He volunteered for the Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad and was a Charter Member and Captain of the Windsor Rescue Squad. Robbie held the offices of Vice-President of District 2 and State Secretary of the VA Assoc. of Volunteer Rescue Squads. He was a lifetime member of the Windsor Ruritan Club. Robbie loved children and coaching little league baseball.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 9, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Colosse Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Webb officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7 th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
