Rosie Jean Smith, 74, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 9, 2010. She was born in Suffolk the daughter of the late Oliver Horn and Rosa Mae Horn. She was predeceased by her daughter, Laura Smith. Rosie was the former owner of Rosie's Diner and was a former member of Faith Alive Church.

Rosie is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Jethro Byrd, Linda and Keith Massengale both of Suffolk; grandchildren, Kyle, Caylin and Jordan Massengale, Renee Black and husband, Steven; great grandchildren, Breanna and Gabriella; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Terrence Foss of Winston Salem, NC, Jackie and Bob Conley of San Diego, CA; brother and sister-in-law, Buddy and Dorothy Horn of Windsor, VA.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. Tim Rawls officiating. Entombment will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday night from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
