Rosemary Katherine Lassiter died peacefully at home, with her children by her side on December 12, 2016, following a brief but valiant battle against cancer. Born on February 23, 1940, to Alvino and Gladys Medrano in Lawton, Oklahoma, she moved to Virginia and worked as a Nurse before she was united in marriage to Randolph Lassiter on March 27,1959, in Suffolk. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2015, after 56 blissful years of marriage. Her character was noble and kind. She centered her affection upon her family and made the circle of her home the embodiment of virtue and happiness and in her dealings she was always kind and charitable. A positive and optimistic person, she brightened every life she touched. A devoted wife and mother, who made many sacrifices for those she loved, she will be deeply missed. She loved to cook and was an avid reader, collecting many volumes. She enjoyed building doll houses and miniatures in her spare time. She is survived by her sister Marguerite, son Randy, and daughter Elenore, all of whom are bereft at the loss of the touchstone of their family. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Surry County Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
