Rose Marie Arrington Umphlett, 71, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 23, 2012. She was born in Franklin, VA the daughter of the late Bernice Estelle Hand Arrington and William Curtis Arrington. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Emmett Thomas Umphlett, Jr.; sisters, Mildred Cobb, Dana Gayle, and Willie Umphlett; brothers, William E., George F., and Archie L. Arrington. Marie formerly worked as a clerk at People's Drug Store. She attended Southside Baptist Church and was a member of the Women of the Moose Suffolk Chapter 1315.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Lois Marie Darden and husband, Lin of Franklin, VA, Thomasina L. Houk of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Thomas Clayton (Kristen), Erin-Marie (Kevin), Sheyenne, Shane-Michael, and Tara; great grandchildren, Brooklyn Marie, Kyleigh Marie, and Rhiannon Lynn; sisters, Mary Virginia Sattlefield, Sarah Elizabeth Umphlett, and Helen Lois Marshall; brother, James Hurley Arrington; and special family friend, Greg Haynes.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Revs. Charles Worth and Jim George officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Friends may join the family Monday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Moose rites will be held Monday night at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
