Ronald Gene Hatfield, Sr., 88, passed away August 27, 2025.  He was born in Devon, West Virginia the son of the late Lawrence and Dollie Hatfield.  He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mabel Cisco Hatfield; and siblings, Lila Theresa Sipple, Lawrence Dale Hatfield, and Henry Reece Hatfield.  Ronald served in the United States Marine Corps.  He went on to initially work for the Suffolk Police Department and then later went on to work and then retired from the Suffolk Fire Department as a Fire Captain.  He further served his community by volunteering at the Holland Fire Department and Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad.  He joined the Police Association in 1957.

Ronald  is survived by his sons, Ronald Jr. (Pauline), Randall (Ruby) and Rickey Hatfield (Missi); grandchildren, Rhonda Hatfield Brock (Pete), Randall Brandon Hatfield (Heather), Tiffany Hatfield Johnson, Kara Tru Hatfield and Gage Anderson Hatfield; and great grandchildren, Rachel, Kearstin and Madison Dollie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Monday, September 1, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jason Sadler officiating.  Burial with military honors and Firefighter rites will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.  Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory.  Memorial donations may be sent to Church of Christ of Suffolk, VA, Alzheimer's Association, American Diabetes Association, or the charity of your choice .  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
