Ronald Carroll (Ronnie) Goodwin, Sr., 69, of Suffolk, VA passed away on October 31, 2012. A native of Sunbury, NC, he was the son of the late Raymond I. Goodwin and Hazel Jones Goodwin. Ronnie was an avid motorcyclist, billiard and guitar player. He had a myriad of family, friends and loved ones, and cherished the time spent with each and every one of them. He earned his living as a machinist at Benthall, Suffolk Iron Works and Gwaltney.

He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years, Rachel S. Goodwin; sons and daughter-in-law: Ronald C. Goodwin, Jr. and Beth Goodwin and David A. Goodwin; honorary adopted son: David W. Garrett; grandchildren: Ben, Daniel, Allen, Amber and Myah; great grandchildren: Alexis, Aria, Rachel and Brantley; brother: Ray Goodwin; and sisters and brother-in-law Anita Brewer and Ray Brewer and Peggie Whitley.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, officiated by Rev. Gary Vaughan. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Sunbury, NC. Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday evening from 7 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
