Rodney Owen
Patton
March 27, 1952 – February 9, 2022
Rodney Owen Patton of Suffolk, Virginia, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, in his home. He was born March 27, 1952, in Van Buren, Maine to the late Helen Cummings and Albert Norman Ross. He was a 1970 graduate of Shed Memorial High School. Eastport, ME. Rodney enlisted in the Coast Guard July 1970 and retired honorably as a Chief Machinery Mate (MKC). He also worked and retired as a Civilian Port Engineer (Foreign Military Sales) for the Coast Guard. He loved Scuba Diving, going to the range where he was an active member of Nansemond Suffolk Shooting Club. MOST OF ALL he loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle through rain, sleet, or snow.
Did You Know:
Rodney was a cook at Esposito's Italian Restaurant, a Merchant Marine, worked at the Harley Davidson Shop, and a Scuba Instructor.
Rodney loved his family and friends and spent his time lending a helping hand any way he could. He was known as "Hot Rod" and the "Neighborhood mechanic". He enjoyed waiting on our neighbor and friend, Nigel, to pop the hood of his truck because he knew he would have work to do, lol. He was always ready for his daughter's next project to build something to give away to somebody else! While Maryann always fussed at him for not completing his home projects.
Rodney is survived by his loving dedicated wife, Maryann Teresa Mauro Patton; Son, Cristoforo Patton; Daughter, Dina Patton; Granddaughter, Ciara Patton; Sisters, Andrea Kendall (David) of Perry, ME, Alberta Matthews and Jaime Tinker of Eastport, ME; Brother, Wayne Patton (Janet) of Bass Harbor, ME; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Rodney touched are invited to the Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, Virginia 23434 for his celebration of life service, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
