Robert Dorman West, 85, passed away January 7, 2014. He was born in Sampson County, NC the son of the late Thaddeus T. and Emma O. West. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Lessie Mae Watson West and son, Robert Wayne West; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He later went on to work and retire after 38 years from the Newport News Shipyard as a pipefitter. After retirement, he volunteered for 23 years at the Church Street 7-11 in Smithfield, VA making coffee and socializing. He also enjoyed working on watches. He attended Antioch Church in Windsor, VA.

Robert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betty W. and Vinson E. Huneycutt; granddaughters, Carol Bragg (Jeremy), Vicki Goldbach (Richard), Angela Martin (Doug), and Rachel Huneycutt (Anthony); great grandchildren, Tyler, Sarah, Hunter, Hudson, Trevor, Allison, Kaitlyn, Emily, and Vinson; sister, Nancy Catherine Beltz of Rosedale, MD; sister-in-law, Pearl West of Carrollton, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with Rev. James Dunn officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Friday night at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antioch Church Cemetery fund at P.O.
