Robert Scully after a courageous battle with cancer passed away and joined our Lord January 4, 2009 at the age of 79.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel (Kibbe) Scully; stepson Frank St. Pierre and wife Jo Ann of Suffolk, Virginia; son, Robert Scully, Jr. of California; daughters, Lola Bobby and Patricia Scully of San Diego, California, Gail Scully of Vancouver, Washington, Donna Rogers of Seagoville, Texas; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Michael and a daughter, Marilyn.
Robert was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, joined the National Guard after high school, honorably discharged and joined the U. S. Army in September, 1946. Discharged in 1957, his many awards included the 2008 Induction into the Ranger Hall of Fame, Ft. Benning, GA, which was one of his proudest moments. His awards included Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Glider Badge, Silver Star, Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal with two stars and arrowhead, World War II Victory, Army of Occupation Japan Clasp, National Defense and Honorable Service Lapel button, World War II.
Burial will be with full military honors in the Arlington National Cemetery, Friday, January 16, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.parrfuneralhome.com
