Robert Russell Gray, Sr., 65, of Suffolk, VA passed away March 31, 2007. He was born in Portsmouth, VA the son of the late Emma Jane Britt Gray and Herman Waverly Gray. He retired as a yard agent after 43 years of dedicated service from the Norfolk Southern Railroad. He also attended Open Door Chapel Church. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Johns; and brothers, Edward, Howard, and Lloyd Gray. Robert was an avid fisherman who loved nature and the outdoors.


Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Dean Gray; daughters, Robin Lynne Turner, Deanna Marie Gray; son, Robert Russell Gray, Jr. all of Suffolk; grandchildren, Tiffany Dawn Gray, Brittany Lynne Turner, Robert Russell Gray, III, Freedom Elizabeth Gray, and Myranda Rae Green; sisters, Mildred Zawada and Shirley Byrum of Suffolk; brother, Thomas Gray of Chesapeake, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home with Chaplain Roland Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery.
